The fee for document translation is $50 per hour, with a minimum charge of $25 per project. Unlike translators of modern language, I do not charge by the word, or by page, because the rate of progress is dependent on the quality of the document and the style of handwriting. I request a sample of a typical page from the document to aid me in estimating the cost of your project. Please provide high resolution copies.
Genealogical research is billed at $60 per hour. Depending on the project, extras may include archive user fees, travel expenses, microfilm rental fees, or copy costs.
Special offer: German civil registration document order! If you need a birth, marriage, or death record from a German city office (generally available from 1874 on), I can order this document for you, handle your international payment to the archive (usually about $20 per document), and provide you with a transcription and translation of the document once received. My fee is $50 per document, which includes the translation. The fee charged by the German archive is extra.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. I look forward to working with you.
